Dig Safe - Residential - Massachusetts Gas - Liberty

Call 811

Planting a tree or digging a post hole for a fence? Call 811.

Electric, natural gas, water, and communications lines may be buried underground. Knowing where utility lines are buried can help you avoid serious harm, service outages, and costly repairs. Even a small dent, bend, or scratch to lines can create serious hazards.

Remember, in Massachusetts you must call 811 at least 72 hours BEFORE you dig or excavate. It’s the law. This national service, which is performed at no cost to you, helps keep you and your loved ones safe.

When you call 811, the national Call Before You Dig center will notify Liberty and other participating utilities, allowing us to mark our underground utility lines so you know where to avoid digging. This service is provided free of charge.

We’ll mark the appropriate areas according to this easy-to-follow, color-coded system.

Remember to dig around the markings and not on them. Safe digging helps keep you, your family, and your friends safe.
